During the ongoing EDEX2023 international defense exhibition in Egypt, representatives from the Algerian Army expressed keen interest in the Brahmos Supersonic Antiship cruise missile. The officers visited the Brahmos pavilion and received a comprehensive briefing about the various variants of the missile and its capabilities.
The Brahmos is a joint venture between India and Russia, developed by the BrahMos Aerospace company. It is a highly potent weapon capable of achieving speeds of over Mach 3 and can engage targets at ranges exceeding 300 kilometers. Its advanced radar seeker and guidance system ensure high precision and effectiveness against both land and sea targets.
Apart from the Antiship variant, the Algerian delegation was also briefed on the following variants of the Brahmos missile:
- Land-Attack: Designed to strike strategic land-based targets with pinpoint accuracy.
- Air-Launched: Capable of being launched from fighter aircraft, increasing its operational flexibility.
- Submarine-Launched: Can be integrated into submarines for underwater launch, offering a stealthy attack option.
