In a major boost to the tourism sector, the state of Gujarat signed 15 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on Wednesday, attracting investments worth Rs 4,490 crore. This investment is expected to create over 11,500 direct and indirect jobs, adding to the state’s already thriving economy.
Among the noteworthy collaborations is a unique initiative between Mazagon Dock Shipbuilder Limited (MDL) and the state government for a project dedicated to underwater adventure tourism. This groundbreaking project involves the construction of a submarine with a 32-person capacity, specifically designed for exploring the depths of Dwarka’s marine life.
The submarine will allow tourists to witness an array of marine wonders, including vibrant coral reefs teeming with colorful fish, delicate soft corals, and fascinating creatures like hydroids and sea anemones. Additionally, it will offer a glimpse into the region’s rich history by providing access to submerged archaeological and historical sites, including a captivating underwater city.
Scheduled to begin next year, this innovative project is estimated to create employment opportunities for around 100 individuals. It has the potential to revolutionize underwater tourism in India, attracting both domestic and international tourists eager to explore the hidden treasures of the deep.
